What type of covers should be applied for non-standard windows?
Non-standard windows, although often very visually impressive, can cause problems for owners when faced with the challenge of covering them. The unusual shape limits the options available. Which covers will be suitable for using with non-standard window spaces? See for yourselves.
The vast majority of windows used in architecture are rectangular, which for the purposes of this text will be called standard windows. However, some projects include bolder solutions, and so we also distinguish round, trapezoidal or triangular windows, which we will define as non-standard.
Non-standard windows often complement the design in an interesting way, creating an interesting composition with the remaining glazing, or efficiently illuminate the space. Doubts associated with functionality often appear when such windows are to be shaded. However, Akant offers solutions that will also work well for non-standard windows.
One of the most universal cover proposals are pleated blinds. They are available for triangular, round and trapezoidal windows. Thanks to the appropriately matched profiles and control systems, the covers have full functionality. It is important to indicate that pleats for windows with unusual shapes can only use standard fabrics, and the honeycomb collections are not available in these variants. Installation on the window frame is recommended.
In the case of pleated blinds for windows with non-standard shapes, it is impossible to use electric control and non-invasive fixings.
Vertical blinds are another proposal that works well for covering non-standard windows. This solution helps to shade triangle and trapezoid windows. A diagonal vertical and a vertical with oblique lamellae are available. The first is suitable when the vertical rail is not mounted parallel to the floor, and the second – when the rail is parallel to the floor and the lower edges are sloped. The shape of the vertical determines which side the lamellas will slide to – it is always the side with the longer side edge.
In the case of verticals for non-standard windows, depending on its type, the available options for controlling the cover include strings or knobs. It is also possible to apply electric control.
Non-standard windows can be interesting decorative elements giving character to the entire body of the building. Various options of covering them are available, so do not be afraid of non-standard solutions.
